Choosing Change: Moving to the United Kingdom

In 2010, I created a login to the then “it site”, Blogger, and created a blog that I held onto tenderly for the next five years. These Beautiful Ramblings, long since dead, was a place where I captured my thoughts as I transitioned from the Disney College Program to college to young married life to living in Belize and then, eventually, choosing to come back to Oklahoma in 2014.

As the years have stacked on top of each other, those transitions still feel so sweet and yet so far away. Blake and I have established a life in Oklahoma filled with good things. Good friends. Careers. Homes filled with love and laughter. I sit here in 2023, on the precipice of change, feeling like I blinked and ten years slipped by.

My heart is filled with gratitude even as we are in the midst of choosing to move our lives in a new direction. Turning the ship towards new waters for no reason and every possible reason. In just a few short weeks, we are packing up house and moving to the UK for five months. Call it a sabbatical or call it crazy, but this is uncharted territory and I can’t wait to capture every second of it.

I want to remember the emotions and experiences, but I also want to capture the process. From moving the dogs to finding places to live, I’ll be documenting this journey every step of the way.

So in a full circle sort of way, as we embark on a new adventure, welcome to my new corner of the internet. However unconventional this road may be, we can’t wait to see where it leads us. Because what we do know is this: life is made to be lived. For us, that means stepping outside of our comfort zones and trying something new.

Cheers to what comes next.
